Q. Are model helicopters difficult to fly
Q. Do you need a licence?
A. No, but you do need third party insurance available for about £28 per annum. BMFA membership
provides this insurance.

Q. Are model helicopters difficult to fly?
A. In a word yes but not impossible, recent improvements in technology and some help make it quite straight

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Getting started can be done for £700, buying second hand can reduce this.

Q. What do helicopters run on?
A. Most helicopters use a glow plug engine and run on a special fuel available from model shops. The fuel

A. No, if you follow the plans carefully it is quite simple. Only basic tools are required.

A. Yes, the chances of you getting to a good standard are massively increased and your repair bill will be
reduced.

A. Some model shops specialise in helicopters due to the nature of the machines, these shops are best for
the dedicated knowledge of the staff.

Q. Can model helicopters do aerobatics?
A. Yes, there is an endless list of aerobatics (3d flying) that can be performed, it could keep you busy for
years learning them all.

Q. I’m interested, where do I go from here?
A. E-mail one of the club contacts or better still visit the club. Weekends are best, see the models in action
and talk to us (we are quite friendly
